The Basketball Tournament (TBT) is back for a ninth year, featuring a field of 64 teams in a single-elimination tournament where the winning team splits $1 million.
Among the 64 teams is India Rising, which has assembled some of the world’s best players of Indian origin, comprised completely of players from both the Indian subcontinent and its diaspora.
According to the TBT website, India Rising is the first team of its kind. The team, which was assembled by GM Gautam Kapur and led by head coach Ajay Sharma, features 2022 Patriot League Player of the Year Sukhmail Mathon and Princepal Singh, who trained at the NBA Global Academy before joining the NBA G League Ignite pathway program in 2021.
Here is everything you need to know about who will be playing for India Rising at the 2022 edition of The Basketball Tournament.
India Rising’s roster is led by Mathon and Singh but also features a number of other notable players like 7-footer Josh Sharma, who averaged 10.2 points and 7.1 rebounds during his senior season (2018-19) at Stanford.
The roster also features a number of Canadian U SPORTS stars, including Jaz Bains, Aryan Sharma, Robbie Sihota and Inderbrir Singh Gill.

India Rising was tabbed as the No. 8 seed in the Syracuse Region and will face the host team, No. 1 Boeheim’s Army, at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, July 22. Viewers in the United States can watch the game on ESPN or stream the game on ESPN 3 and Sling TV.
Boeheim’s Army is comprised mostly of Syracuse alumni, including former NBA players Rakeem Christmas and Tyler Ennis.
