Elkins moved up a spot in the Class AAA playoff ratings after a double-overtime win over Philip Barbour.

PARKERSBURG — After defeating Philip Barbour in double-overtime on Friday night, Elkins moved up one spot in the Class AAA playoff ratings, released Tuesday afternoon by the WVSSAC.

The 4-1 Tigers — off to their best start in 12 years — are eighth this week. They will visit Grafton (1-4) on Friday night.

The Colts, meanwhile, dropped four spots to eighth in the double-A ranks and travel to Berkeley Springs on Friday.

In Class A, Tucker County (5-0) is tied with Valley-Wetzel for fourth. The Mountain Lions are on the road against No. 9 Pendleton County (3-1) on Friday evening.

Petersburg (3-2) is sixth and East Hardy 12th.

Fairmont Senior (5-0) is tops in Class AAA and will travel to Buckhannon-Upshur on Friday.

Bridgeport (5-0) is second, Princeton (5-0) third, Herbert Hoover (fourth) and North Marion fifth.

Frankfort (4-0), Roane County (5-0), South Harrison (4-0), Williamstown (5-0) and Independence (3-1) comprise the top five in Class AA.

Tug Valley (4-0) is first in single-A, followed by River View (4-0) and Wahama (5-0).

The top five in Class AAAA are Spring Mills (5-0), Martinsburg (5-0), Parkersburg South (4-1), Wheeling Park (3-2) and Morgantown (4-1).

The top 16 teams in each class qualify for the playoffs.
