Tickets for the last home game of the season for Arsenal, where they will face off against Wolves in the Premier League, are currently available for purchase at an astonishing price of £1500 per ticket. With the match set to take place on May 28, Arsenal and their manager Mikel Arteta are hoping to clinch the league title, their first in 19 years.
With the Premier League resuming this weekend, Arsenal are currently eight points clear of Manchester City but the Citizens do have an extra game to play.
Currently the cheapest ticket for the game can be purchased at £1560 for a seat behind the goal in the upper tier. Tickets for similar seats officially cost around £56, making it over TWENTY-FIVE times the price.
“We have not seen prices at such levels in the Premier League, this is definitely a record. The closest game which comes close to this was several years ago in Liverpool’s final game of the 2017-2018 season, however, tickets for that game started at £1300. Whilst Manchester City went on to win the league, the anticipation and demand was similar to this season.” commented Cian Evans from ticket comparison site Seat Compare. “We first started to see prices increase for this game after only 10 games in, however the biggest shift was when they beat Manchester United at home, the prices increased 30% from the resellers. ”
Tickets directly from Arsenal are currently listed as sold-out, however, information on further availability will become known in the coming weeks.
Fans have taken to Twitter regarding the ticket prices, mainly from Manchester City fans with one tweeting:
Others included: “Would love it if it sold for that price and City won the league instead.”
Another fan wrote: “To watch Man City lift the trophy on the big screen?”
And a third commented: “Who’s going to pay that much to sit with the gods especially when Manchester City will be 9 pts clear.”.
Other fans have voiced their concerns on why ticket prices are so expensive and how they end up being sold for thousands of pounds. An additional website that is listing Arsenal tickets for sale is FanSeats, another comparison website with similar priced seats.
Arsenal fans will be hoping they can secure their first Premier League title since 2004, however they are going against a formidable team in Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. The race for the Premier League is in the final stretch with only 10 games remaining and everything to play for. Whilst Arsenal and Manchester City are the only teams considered for the league title, should both of these teams drop a significant amount of points, Manchester United could get back in contention.
What are your thoughts, will Arsenal hold-off Man City or will the Blues find a way and pip them to the trophy?
