Stores prepped and ready for Black Friday shopping

Must read

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Doors open at 8:00 Friday morning for malls in the metro as they expect crowds of people to wrap up their Thanksgiving festivities with Black Friday deals.

“People do like to get out, especially Black Friday. It’s kind of a family tradition,” said Kathy Hackshaw, Retail Director for the Outlets of Mississippi.

Retailers say this is one of their busiest times of the year, but Marketing and Business Development Manager Laura Antoon with Northpark says they are excited.

“I know the past five years I’ve been here, our Black Fridays have really felt more festive than stressful,” Antoon said.

Hacksaw says the outlet mall has been busy all month long, so her expectations for Black Friday are high.

“People started a little early. I think they were ready to get out and do some shopping and have some fun, so we’ve liked the month of November so far, and Black Friday is going to be even better,” she said.

Most stores in malls throughout the area will have deals ranging from 20%-70% off to Buy One, Get One sale.

“All of our stores are having sales, so that is definitely something to come in and see,” Antoon said. “Some of them are hosting flash sales, so as the day goes on, if there’s something going on at like 4:00, you can kind of walk through and see like, oh, this is on sale, that’s on sale.”

Long lines are expected, so Hackshaw suggests you come prepared.

“Make yourself a list because it’s going to be crazy. It’s going to be busy. Be patient when you’re in line,” Hackshaw said.

Increased security and police will be present throughout the entire day. Malls will not have early shopping on Thanksgiving night.
