Every year, U.S. News & World Report publishes a “Best Hospitals” list, ranking the top 20 hospitals in the U.S., as well as hospitals that excel in 15 areas of complex specialty care. This year, Sarasota Memorial Hospital once again earned top marks on two specialty care lists, ranking No. 35 in the country for specialized rehabilitation of serious injuries and diseases and No. 35 for specialized urology care.

Sarasota Memorial also received 16 “high performer” ratings for specific and common procedures in Medicare patients, including gastrointestinal surgery, aortic valve surgery, COPD, colon cancer surgery, diabetes, heart attack and bypass surgery, hip replacement, kidney failure, lung cancer surgery and stroke.

Of the nearly 5,000 hospitals U.S. News & World Report evaluates each year, Sarasota Memorial has repeatedly ranked among the 50 in at least one specialty. In Florida, meanwhile, Sarasota Memorial was ranked No. 1 overall for the Sarasota-Bradenton-North Port region and No. 6 overall in Florida—the only hospital in the Suncoast region to make the list.
