Pixel Watch Concentric face update makes another appearance

Must read

While the Performance Loop Band is now available, Google still hasn’t released an update to the Pixel Watch Concentric face, which we now have another look at.

Back in October, Google showed off an unreleased Concentric face with support for a ring of complications as part of the Pixel Watch 3 design video. At the moment, the fullscreen Dial I or Dial II layouts do not support showing any other information.

As part of a Black Friday social promo, Google provided another look at the updated Concentric face, but this time in always-on display mode. It looks to just be the existing face, but with support for four complications.

Current vs. upcoming

With its second appearance, this updated Concentric watch face is presumably real and awaiting release rather than just being a mockup. A launch with the next Feature Drop makes sense. That said, the release of the Performance Loop Band earlier this week was quite random and unexpected.

It’s a shame this was not ready with the launch of the Pixel Watch 3. Google this year released Active and Field, while Track was overhauled. (I’m not a fan of Track’s redesign. It does add more complications, but visually it’s not as Material You.)

For me, the addition of complications would increase my use of Concentric as a full-time watch face. As is, it’s more of an aesthetically-pleasing display option.
