Pakistan is in the process of finalizing its 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 to be held in India.
After an early exit from the Asia Cup 2023, the selectors are carefully considering team combinations.
Keeping team’s recent performances in consideration, there are doubts about Mohammad Haris, Usama Mir, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, and Faheem Asraf making it to the World Cup squad.
However, there’s a likelihood of including right-arm medium pacer Hassan Ali and right-arm leg-break spinner Abrar Ahmed in the 15-member squad.
Despite concerns about the form of opener Fakhar Zaman and vice-captain Shadab Khan, both are expected to be part of the team for the mega event.
Imad Wasim’s selection is also in discussions and are drawn to his vast experience in international cricket, especially in high-pressure tournaments like the World Cup. Imad’s ability to control the game with his spin and contribute with both bat and ball adds weight to his selection argument.
Pakistan’s probable 15-member squad for the World Cup 2023: Babar Azam(C), Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman, Abdullah Shafiq, Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan(wk), Mohammad Nawaz/Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Hassan Ali, and Zaman Khan.
ICC Cricket World Cup is set to start from October 5th while Pakistan will play their first game against Netherlands on October 6th.
