The whistle has blown to mark One Year to Go until the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023™. Set to be a history-making tournament of firsts, the event brings people together from a diverse range of cultures to unify and inspire the next generation to go #beyondgreatness. This sense of unity is one of the underpinning values of the tournament, along with excellence and courage, and is the theme for FIFA’s One Year to Go celebrations.
To commemorate the One Year to Go moment, FIFA will unveil a vibrant Unity Football Pitch, inspired by all nations it represents. The pitch will be unveiled on Gadigal land in Sydney on 20 July 2022 before touring all host cities leading into the tournament. One Year to Go celebrations will conclude with a Unity Lights display across all host cities, in conjunction with local events, artworks and installations, representing the unique people, places, history and identity of the city.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 will be the largest women’s sporting event in the world, with 32 teams from around the world competing for the prestigious World Cup. The teams will compete in a fierce 64 match competition hosted by 9 cities across Australia and New Zealand.
