It’s no secret to anyone who watched the Denver Broncos struggle on offense last year that star quarterback Russell Wilson had what was without a doubt the worst season of his entire NFL career. But throughout that rough season, it sounds like he may have been dealing with a nagging injury that could have hundred his play.
On Wednesday afternoon, league insider Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network revealed that Russell Wilson has been dealing with a knee issue that “had nagged him for a few seasons,” and that the Broncos quarterback had surgery this offseason to repair it.
“#Broncos QB Russell Wilson had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee following 2022, a procedure to fix an issue that had nagged him for a few seasons. He is back working out and throwing after the minor scope and should be fine for OTAs. He’ll be at full health for 2023,” Rapoport said in a tweet.

Obviously, this is big news that could potentially help explain some of his struggles last season. And the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter as a result.
Should be no issue to return for next year. Scopes usually take a few weeks to let the small incisions to heal and let swelling go down. Sounds like he is already back working out and strengthening surrounding musculature, so progressing in the right direction. #InjuryUpdate #NFL https://t.co/wnOk5qt8Nc
