The Los Angeles Lakers have been involved in endless trade rumors since the offseason began, most of them revolving around Russell Westbrook. The Lakers are always in the middle of these conversations every offseason, but a disappointing 2021-22 season has amplified the speculation around the franchise. And while their reported pursuit of Kyrie Irving seems to have died down a little, there are still other deals being spoken about in the NBA world.
DeMar DeRozan was supposedly a target for them last summer as well, but he ended up joining the Chicago Bulls. DeRozan had an extremely impressive season and has established himself as a Top 20 player in the league once again. And following his appearance in the Drew League alongside LeBron James, there has been renewed interest from Lakers fans about the prospect of having him join the team.
A blockbuster trade, as suggested on Instagram, would bring DeRozan to the Lakers with some other interesting pieces but would involve the organization giving up on Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook. This drew some interesting reactions from NBA fans, who had differing opinions on whether it would work for all the teams involved.
“Not a fan of these teams but I must say great trade idea!!”
“Bulls get too much, Lakers giving up too much.”
“I don’t think this trade makes the Lakers a championship team.”
‘Charlotte will not pull the trigger on this trade, this is robbery for the Lakers.”
“I like this for all the teams.”
“Bron and DeRozan together would be fire.”
“As a Lakers fan, I think we’dbe giving too much up.”
“AD plays more games than Hayward.”
“Nahhh I got mixed emotions about this one .. I don’t want to give away AD.”
“Ngl Lakers not trading AD unless LeBron want to.”
“This would be wild.”
“I do not mind seeing this happen at all.”
The big question in this scenario would be whether the Lakers are comfortable giving up Anthony Davis, which would be a huge call. AD has been linked with the Bulls in the past, and being from Chicago, it might just make sense for him to go there. A trade of this size is unlikely, but it would make quite the splash if the teams were willing to make it happen.
