Hotel technology solution provider Mews is expanding its footprint in the German market by acquiring HS3 Hotelsoftware, a company known for its on-premises property management systems. The acquisition follows Mews’ successful funding round of $110 million, which has fueled its expansion in key markets. Terms of the latest acquisition were not disclosed.

Mews’ technology is utilized by over 700 hospitality establishments in the DACH region, managing more than 30,000 beds. Notably, 76% of Mews’ clientele in Germany comprises small to medium-sized hotels, including well-known names like Hotel Oderberger in Berlin, harry’s home, and Paulinenhof.

Founded in 2009, HS3 Hotelsoftware has over 15 years of experience in enhancing hotel operations and guest services, with more than 3,500 customers relying on its intuitive and efficient software solutions. The acquisition aims to triple the number of rooms managed via Mews in Germany.

In March, Mews announced the new funding round of $110 million led by Kinnevik, with participation from Revaia, Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Notion Capital, and new investor LGVP, bringing the company’s valuation to $1.2 billion. This funding underscores Mews’ robust growth, including a more than 60% increase in revenue year-on-year and a Gross Payment Volume that has surpassed $8 billion.

Mews’ strategy encompasses global expansion, research and development, and further acquisitions aimed at empowering hospitality organizations to accelerate their digital transformation. Founded in 2012 by former hotelier Richard Valtr, Mews seeks to improve hotel operations with its cloud-based system that integrates with a wide array of technological solutions.

Currently, Mews manages over 350,000 hospitality spaces across 5,000 customers worldwide, including names like Strawberry Hotels, The Social Hub, and Airelles.

In January, Mews further extended its market presence by acquiring Frontdesk Anywhere, marking its third acquisition in North America in less than a year. This move is part of Mews Ventures’ strategy, which has included eight acquisitions to date, such as HotelPerfect, Cenium, Bizzon, Hotello, and Nomi.

Mews has achieved other big milestones in the past year, including a $185 million Series C funding round, expansion of its North American operations, and enhancements in AI-driven guest experiences. The company has seen a 115% increase in customers across more than 85 countries and a nearly 60% growth in its North American team.

Last year, Mews acquired Nomi Travel, a Nashville-based hospitality startup focused on improving hotel guest experiences, managed by Mews Ventures. This acquisition followed the acquisition of Hotello, a Montreal-headquartered cloud PMS solution known for its exceptional user experience and extensive integrations, which supports over 500 customers in Canada and the United States.

Mews continues to drive innovation with its comprehensive property management system designed to streamline all aspects of hotel operations, from booking to check-out. The integrated Mews Payments ecosystem aims to ensure secure and smooth transactions, catering to a diverse range of customers from large chains to independent hoteliers. Mews also offers a marketplace of 600 apps, allowing users to create customized operational dashboards that integrate seamlessly with other hotel applications.
