Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar Monday launched the Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programme in Integrated Circuit Design and Technology (ICDT) under its electrical engineering department.

The programme, commencing from the upcoming academic year 2024-25, has been introduced to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM) as India strives to become a global hub in the sector, the institute stated in an official release.

The programme will be spearheaded by an advisory committee comprising members from global academia and industry. The programme, covering semiconductor material, devices, circuits, IC design and manufacturing processes, will offer an end-to-end learning to students.

They will gain hands-on experience in every stage of the IC development process, from specification and design to manufacturing packaging and deployment.

“Collaborative teaching and internships with leading organisations such as Intel, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm,, Micron Technology, Applied Materials, Lam Research, Renesas Electronics and Global Foundries provide students with invaluable industry exposure and networking opportunities,” IITGN stated.
