TUCSON, Ariz. – Arkansas women’s golf finished at even-par in the second round of play at the MountainView Collegiate. The Hogs sit in 11th place out of 17 teams with an even-par 576 (287-289), just two strokes behind 10th-place New Mexico and three ahead of 12th-place Missouri. Iowa State leads the way at 31-under.
Miriam Ayora paces the Hogs through two rounds with a 4-under 140 (70-70). The junior captured her second straight 70, doing so with six birdies. Ayora found some trouble in the front nine with four consecutive bogeys but finished strong in her final 11 holes by going bogey-free. She sits in a tie for 10th, just one stroke behind a tie for eighth and three from a tie for fourth.
Kajal Mistry is the second leading Hog after tallying a 1-over 73 on Saturday. She logged two birdies and 13 pars in round two and now sits in a tie for 23rd with 1-under 143 (70-73).
Competing as an individual, freshman Meghan Royal had a career-low round day with a 69, her first round in the 60s. She had five birdies and just one bogey, while tallying 13 pars. Royal jumped up to a tie for 23rd with a 1-under 143 (74-69).
Ela Anacona is in a tie 61st after two rounds, finishing with a 75 in round two. Anacona had four birdies, but four bogeys and two double bogeys on the day. She has a 3-over 147 (72-75) through two rounds.
With a solid day, Julia Gregg delivered an even-par 72 in round two behind two birdies and two bogeys along with 14 pars. She is in a tie for 67th with a 4-over 148 (76-72).
Kendall Todd is in a tie for 72nd with a 5-over 149 (75-74). With a 74 on the day, Todd had five birdies, but fell in some trouble with four bogeys and a triple bogey on hole 14.
Among the field, Arkansas has the fourth most pars with 36. Ayora has the second-best par 5s average (4.38), while Royal holds the sixth most pars (27) among the field of 90 golfers.
