Eurovision Sport is delighted to announce that it has reached agreement with FIBA, the international basketball federation, to broadcast the exciting new Olympic discipline of 3×3 basketball over the next two years.
The agreement covers a range of top world and European events, beginning with the forthcoming FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2023 in Vienna, which opens on 30 May and runs to 4 June, 2023. Other highlights of the agreement include two Europe Cups and the three Olympic qualification tournaments.
The EBU has acquired exclusive live rights for its Members in the territories of Belgium (RTBF and VRT), Greece (ERT), Hungary (MTVA), Lithuania (LRT), Netherlands (NOS), Poland (TVP), Spain (RTVE) and Switzerland (SRG-SSR) with the option to include more Members from additional territories if their national teams qualify for an event.
Members will base their coverage on their national teams and will exploit the content on both their linear and non-linear platforms.
News clips will be distributed via Eurovision Sports News and the events will receive widespread promotion via the social media of EBU Members and FIBA’s own 3×3 social media platforms.

3×3 basketball made its Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, having first been included in the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games. The reduced-sides game was an immediate success with spectators, who responded to its fast, spectacular, and exciting action and its authentic urban culture atmosphere, which is helping attract a new young audience to the games.
The agreement adds another Olympic discipline to Eurovision Sport’s inventory, following the news earlier this year that the International Olympic Committee had awarded Olympic Games media rights between 2026 and 2032 to a pioneering partnership of the EBU and Warner Bros. Discovery.
The EBU and its Members cover a wide variety of Olympic sports all year round – from athletics to artistic gymnastics, biathlon to swimming – bringing huge audiences to the full range of events from World to European Championships, multi-sport events, and national championships.
