Sunil Gavaskar, a legendary figure in Indian cricket, praised Shubman Gill and claimed that, as a result of his game-winning innings against the Mumbai Indians on Friday, the rising Indian star has the cricketing world at his feet.

In the important knockout game, Gill was in top form as the GT opener went on to destroy the Mumbai Indians bowlers with his 60-ball 129. The 23-year-old ran beyond the 800-run threshold for the season and won the Orange Cap. GT added 233 runs in their 20 overs thanks to Gill’s knock, which MI couldn’t chase down.

With a chance to defend their championship, Gujarat will play Chennai Super Kings in the IPL final on Sunday at the same location after making it into the final for the second time in a row. Coincidentally, Gujarat and Chennai played in the inaugural IPL 2023 game on March 31 at the same location.

Gujarat Titans scored a massive 233/3, the biggest total ever in the history of the playoffs, thanks to Gill’s third century of the IPL 2023. “He hasn’t been wild trying to play across the line”- Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar, an Indian cricket icon, praised Shubman Gill after his 129 in the IPL 2023 Qualifier Two against MI on Friday in Ahmedabad.

“It is very difficult to find more adjectives apart from saying that the cricketing world is at his feet. The sky is the limit for him. That’s all I can say. And his feet really. The certainty of the feet’ movement. The certainty of playing forward and back, that’s so important and essential for a good batter. At the same time, keep your balance as well and that’s what he does,” Sunil Gavaskar told Star Sports.

“If he keeps doing that, runs are going to flow. Because there is a correctness about his cricket and a correctness about his batting. You sometimes feel like he has played across the line. He hasn’t really played across the line. He has played at the very last moment. He hasn’t been wild trying to play across the line,” Sunil Gavaskar said.

“This is the third century he has got in this IPL. He has improved with every inning. Now he has got 129, the highest score in this year’s IPL. So the sky is the limit and he is going up and up. So that’s good news not just for Gujarat Titans, but for Indian cricket,” Sunil Gavaskar added.

GT will take on Chennai Super Kings in the summit clash here on Sunday.
