On January 13, Netflix released the first part of the Break Point series focused on the world of tennis on its streaming platform. Fans had the opportunity to follow the exploits of some of the best players on the circuit from a different perspective.
The protagonists of the five episodes released by Netflix at the beginning of 2022 were Matteo Berrettini, Nick Kyrgios, Felix Auger Aliassime, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Paula Badosa, Ajla Tomljanovic and many others. Italian tennis fans, for example, followed Berrettini’s path at the 2021 Australian Open, an edition in which he went as far as the semifinals and only lost against the future tournament winner Rafael Nadal.
Not everyone, however, appreciated the Netflix project. Most of the allegations concern the way players’ stories and journeys have been told in different tournaments.
The impression is that the television series has tried to generate new fans without thinking about those who have been following this sport for some time. “It doesn’t tell anything new or incredible like Drive to Survive.
People who have been watching tennis for years can only reject this series,” is one of the comments that has received the most likes on social networks. Meanwhile, Netflix has finally announced the release date of the second part of Break Point.
In fact, starting June 21, fans will be able to enjoy the last five episodes. The US company has chosen to offer the public the background of the ATP and WTA Tour ten days before the start of the prestigious Wimbledon tournament.
There should be at least two new faces. These are WTA number one Iga Swiatek and Frances Tiafoe. Waiting to see the second part of Break Point, Netflix has already renewed the TV series for a second season. The second season which will obviously focus on the results obtained by tennis players in 2023. More details of the next episodes will come in the next days.
