The basketball world has been saddened today by the unfortunate news of one of the greatest team sports players ever, Bill Russell passing away at the age of 88.
The basketball world was quick to react to the loss.
The Boston Celtics, the franchise Russell won his 11 NBA rings with, shared a message with the basketball world:
The Celtics player Jaylen Brown also shared a message on Twitter, shortly after the sad news broke.
“Rest In Peace, thank you for paving the way and inspiring so many. Today is a sad day but also great day to celebrate his legacy and what he stood for,” wrote Brown.
2-time NBA champion with the Detroit Pistons in 1989 and 1990, Isiah Thomas also shared a heartfelt message on Twitter.
“Rest in peace Bill Russell you were everything we all aspired to be, your winning spirit will live forever my friend. Thank you for your words of wisdom,” wrote Thomas.
