A BCCI official has reportedly confuted news reports by Pakistani media that India have agreed to a hybrid model for Asia Cup 2023. BCCI has denied sending Indian players to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023 due to security reasons. Later, PCB offered a hybrid model to host the Asia Cup 2023.
According to the hybrid model proposed by PCB chief Najam Sethi, Asia Cup 2023 will witness the first half in Pakistan. Later, the next half of the tournament including India games will take place at a neutral venue.

Some reports by Pakistan media claimed that India have agreed to PCB’s suggestion for a hybrid model for Asia Cup. However, a BCCI official refuted these claims while speaking to Times Now.

During a chat with Times Now, a BCCI official said that the Indian Cricket Board has not agreed to PCB’s idea of a hybrid model for Asia Cup 2023 so far. He also said that BCCI will conduct a meeting with other boards on the matter after IPL 2023 and then a final decision will be taken.

“BCCI has not given approval for the hybrid model to PCB for the Asia Cup. Nothing has been decided as yet. We will have a meeting regarding this. All the ICC members have been invited to the IPL final. The meeting will take place after that. And then a decision will be taken”, the official said.
Some reports have also alleged India vs Pakistan match of the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the BCCI official termed this report as false.
“No venues have been selected for World Cup matches as of now,” he said.
Earlier on Thursday, BCCI secretary Jay Shah informed that all the cricket boards part of the Asian Cricket Council will meet after IPL 2023 to take up the issue of Asia Cup 2023.
“The respective president of Bangladesh, Adghanistan, and Sri Lanka Crickt Boards will gerace the IPL 2023 final to be held on May 28 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. We will hold discussions with them for outlining the future coarse of action in relation to Asia Cup 2023”, said Jay Shah, who is also Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) chairman.
Asia Cup 2023 is set to take place from September 2 to 17. Pakistan are the host of the tournament. However, BCCI and PCB have been at loggerheads over the tournament. BCCI has denied sending its players to Pakistan. In retaliation, PCB has also warned of skipping ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in India later this year.

Six teams are part of Asia Cup 2023. They are India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Sri Lanka are the defending champions who defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 final last year in UAE to lift the title.
