The PGA Championship ended on a high note with Brooks Koepka taking home a whopping $3.15 million in prize money. But golf fans don’t have to wait long to watch another exhilarating tournament. The KLM Open also widely known as the Dutch Open, is currently underway in the beautiful village of Cromvoirt in the Netherlands. The tournament is the 22nd event of the DP World Tour’s 2023 season and is being played at the Bernardus Golf Course.
This European Tour event which was founded in 1912 was originally named the Dutch Open. However, with its changing sponsors the tour also had its name changed multiple times. It was finally named KLM Open when KLM served as its longest sponsor from 1981 to 1990 and then from 2004 to 2020. For 2023 KLM has a lucrative pay chart, and players have a lot to fight for!

Though the European Tours may not be as hyped as the American Tours, that doesn’t take away the thrill it offers to the audience.
Among the 156 players fighting for the cup, the star players are English golfer Eddie Pepperell, French golfer Victor Perez, England’s Jordan Smith, and Dutch professional golfer Joost Luiten. Each is just as talented as the other on the course, and hence the event promises the audience a scintillating experience over the weekend. Besides the stellar prize money of $2 million, the KLM Open also offers some other perks to make the competition more enticing.
This is a golden opportunity for players, as the winner will be rewarded with 18 Official World Golf Ranking points, a luxury still not available for the LIV golfers. Other benefits besides winning are similar to earlier perks – 2750 Race to Dubai points, berths to other events, and freedom on the European Tour for two seasons. Also by the end of the tournament, the player with the most Race to Dubai points wins that specific competition and the first prize it offers. Thus, lots of incentives to look out for.
The KLM Open for 2023 has a prize purse of $2 million and they reward the top 70 players instead of the American Tour’s Top 50. The winner receives 16.67% of the prize purse, the second position is rewarded with 11.11% and the third with 6.26%. The percentage then gradually narrows down to 0.18%. for the 70th position.
